LYO

Our LYO (Lutheran Youth Organization) mission statement sums up our hopes for the youth at Epiphany: Check out our Latest News Articles, follow this Link

“To gather regularly with other Epiphany high school teens in a safe, supportive environment, building one another up in Christ through fun activities and church service projects aimed at deepening our faith in Christ.”

LYO meets each Sunday, either with small groups or “breakfast club” (bring your own cereal) at 9:15 a.m., or on Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and discussion.  This format gives us an all-around schedule of worship, service, faith-building and fellowship.  Activities in past years have included:

  • Ski trip
  • Parents/LYO softball game
  • Freshman welcome party
  • Senior send-off
  • Overnight team building retreats
  • Christmas bowling party
  • Christmas caroling at Lexington
  • Six Flags Fright Fest
  • Girls/Boys Nights Out

Group work camp takes place in the summer, with over 40 kids and chaperones expected to participate in 2009.

Fundraisers include a Cookie Walk, Garage Sale, LYO Babysitting at Epiphany, and more.  And LYO members have grown deeper in faith and closer to one another through volunteering at the PADS shelter, visiting Lexington Adult Care Center, and helping with LYO Rake and Run.
